how to eat a Macaron

Macarons

Please refrigerate your box of macarons if you do not plan to consume them immediately. They are best eaten at room temperature so take them out at least an hour before serving. If the macarons are too chewy, or if the filling is not melt-in-your-mouth creamy, they might still be too cold. Macarons were conceived to be a hand-made pastry. Their size may vary between 1.25 – 1.75 inches.

Chocolate macarons tend to be smaller but thicker, and Pistachios tend to be wider but more flat.

Cupcakes

Cupcakes

Our cupcakes are as carefully crafted as our macarons. The chocolate is made with premium Valrhona chocolate, the vanilla cupcake is speckled with vanilla beans and our Sassy red velvet cupcake has the trademark tender crumb. Our standard cupcakes come with a simple frosting swirl and a flower cutout. We do not make jumbo cupcakes; we believe that our cupcakes are the perfect size to satisfy that sweet craving without the dreaded sugar overload.

Reinventing the cupcake

There is indeed a growing demand for more quality cupcakes. Petites Bouchees is the first in Richmond, Virginia to offer couture cupcakes – cupcakes that are almost too pretty to eat but taste just as delicious as they look. We do not slap on frosting as an afterthought which is why we stay away from the overly sweet American buttercream. We use only the more superior European-style buttercream and cream cheese frosting. We also have a vast array of floral decorations that may be highly customized.

Glazed chocolate cupcakes may be left out at room temperature. Cream cheese and buttercream-frosted cupcakes need to be refrigerated if they’ve been out for more than 4 hours. In any case, they are best eaten at room temperature.

Financiers

Financiers

I also offer Financiers, delightful French tea cakes made from aromatic "beurre noisette" (browned butter) . They are so-called because they are traditionally made in molds that resemble gold bars! They are dense, chewy, and buttery with a crisp exterior. Infused with vanilla, this little cake is packed with flavor in each little bite.

These little tea cakes are best eaten the day they are made. When you take your box home, transfer it to an airtight container and store at room temperature. To revive the just out-of-the-oven taste, you can heat them up briefly, about 2-3 minutes, in a 350 °F toaster oven. This will restore the crisp exterior and soft interior.
